Answers to common questions about Darwin.
How does the ranking work?
Darwin shows you two tasks at a time. Swipe to pick the one that matters more. Behind the scenes, an intelligent ranking algorithm recalculates the relative importance of every task on your list. After a handful of comparisons, your true priorities emerge.
What do the different swipe directions mean?
Swipe left or right to pick a winner between the two cards. Swipe up to promote a task (it stays, the other is replaced). Swipe down to demote a task (it leaves, the other stays). Each direction triggers a different animation and rating update.
How many comparisons do I need?
There's no fixed number — the more you swipe, the more confident the rankings become. You'll see a confidence ring on the Rank button that fills as your rankings stabilize. Even 10–15 swipes will start producing useful results.
Can I import my existing tasks?
Yes! Darwin can import tasks from iOS Reminders directly, or you can import from a CSV file. Go to Settings > Import/Export to get started.
What are Goals?
Goals let you group related tasks together with an emoji icon and color. You can rank tasks within a single goal or across all goals at once. Track your completion progress for each goal.
What is Focus Mode?
Focus Mode shows your top 3 highest-ranked tasks — the ones that earned their spot through your actual swipe decisions. It helps you know exactly what to work on next without overthinking.
How do I sign in?
You can sign in with Google, Apple, or a passwordless email link. Your data syncs across devices automatically once you're signed in.
Is my data backed up?
Yes. Your tasks, rankings, and goals are synced to the cloud via your account. If you sign in on a new device, everything will be there.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. Go to Settings and use the reset option to clear all tasks and rankings. You can also delete individual tasks or goals at any time.
Does the app work offline?
Darwin requires an internet connection for sign-in and syncing. Once your data is loaded, many features work while offline, and changes sync when you reconnect.
